Rundle, the PetFriendly CEO (Chief Eating Officer) recently
returned from his trek to the Mount Robson and Wells Gray
wilderness areas, where he stayed - naturally - at pet-friendly
accommodations. Both of these areas are havens
for nature enthusiasts; there are plenty of spectacular
hiking trails for you to explore with your faithful pooch.
It was a trip filled with lots of cute dogs, great food,
excellent hiking - and - much to our surprise - many,
many bears! View the photos and read about it here.

Just another reminder to ensure your pets are on an
approved flea / tick control program if you'll be traveling
to an area where these are a problem. Contact your vet for
more information.
Have a great month, and we'll see you in July.

FEATURED PET QUOTES:
"You may have a dog that won't sit up, roll over or even
cook breakfast, not because she's too stupid to learn how
but because she's too smart to bother." (Rick Horowitz,
Chicago Tribune)
"I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give
unconditional love. For me they are the role model for
being alive." (Gilda Radner)

If you've ever tried to find an apartment or other type of
housing that allows pets, you know that it can present a
real challenge. Animal shelters receive pets all the time
where "no-pet housing" is the reason provided for
surrendering the pet.
Locating pet-friendly housing can certainly be time-
consuming, but there are things
you can do to help persuade a landlord that you'll be a responsible tenant
and pet owner. Go to www.petfriendlyrentals.ca
for more information.
For example, reference letters from your dog's veterinarian
can help to demonstrate that you're a good pet owner...
likewise, a certificate from an obedience class can help
to convince a potential landlord that your pet won't tear
up his rental unit! This type of documentation can be
especially helpful if you have a large dog; rentals that
DO allow pets often have a "small pet only" rule.
If you can't immediately find long-term housing that
accepts pets, please don't abandon your pet - instead,
ask pet-friendly vacation accommodations whether they have
long-term rates available. Don't limit yourself to hotels
either; sometimes smaller lodgings can be more flexible
if you just ask.
