Are you going to be in the Calgary area on October 29-31
this month? Then stop by our booth at the Calgary Pet
Expo!
We'll have some neat pet stuff available for sale -- just
for people who are crazy about their pets. There will be
portable pet travel bowls -- a must-have for us pet-toting
travellers -- along with our popular decals, and a limited
supply of adorable paw print or bone photo frames, plus
paw print license plate frames. Unfortunately, we were
only able to get our hands on a few of these, so get them
while you can... once they're gone, they're gone!
Don't be shy... drop by the booth and say hello! We'll be
looking forward to meeting some of you there. We'll be at
Booth #604 in the Dogs Area.
For details on the Calgary Pet Expo, visit
www.canwestshows.com.
Please note that visitor pets are not permitted. However,
you'll find plenty of pets at exhibitors' booths, including
the PetFriendly CFO (Chief Fun Officer).
Hope to see you there.

TRAVELLING BY AIR
If you are travelling by air and decide you want to bring
your pet, it's important to plan and prepare accordingly.
Because pets are normally shipped as "cargo" and will be
flying out of your sight and supervision, there are some
risks. These can be minimized by preparing well in advance.
You'll find some great tips in the article,
"Flying Safely".
You may also be interested to know that a new company
called Companion
Air intends to permit pets to fly in the cabin along with the
passengers. Great news for all us pet lovers!
FEATURED: GRAND MANAN ISLAND, NEW BRUNSWICK
The Grand Manan Island, reachable only by ferry or by air, is an
unspoiled wilderness situated in the entrance to the Bay of Fundy.
It offers a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Daily ferries run from Blacks Harbour to Grand Manan Island (with
the exception of some holidays). Please be aware that pets are not
permitted on passenger decks and must remain on the car deck.
More information on ferry crossings is available at
www.coastaltransport.ca/.
If you have a little extra time, take another short ferry ride to
the neighbouring White Head Island.
The Grand Manan Island is a haven for nature lovers. Some of
the activities and sights on the island include:
- Take a leisurely drive or bike along the 33 kilometers of road
that follow the sea. Stop at one of the many scenic picnic areas
for a relaxing meal.
- Spend the day on a scenic hike at Anchorage Provincial Park
or Hole-in-the-Wall Park, where a short forest hike leads to a
natural rock arch.
- Enjoy sea kayak or bicycle tours (rentals available). Or take
a boat tour and keep an eye out for birds or sea life, or just sit
back and watch the sunset.
- Visit Swallowtail Light, one of the last remaining wooden
lighthouses in Canada. A great place to watch the sunrise or to
watch for seals, porpoise and whales.
- Beachcomb at Pettes Cove, where you'll find a number of
small rocky beaches as well as a scenic trail.
- Visit Seven Days Work. This natural wonder features
a rock formation over 200 feet tall!
Many other natural attractions are available on Grand Manan
Island. View wildlife, wildflowers, and take your camera! Enjoy
the local cuisine. Golf, visit the museum, or take a sea-watch
tour. In season -- from June through September -- is the Farmer's
Market. For more information on the Grand Manan Island, visit
www.grandmanannb.com.
