Summer may have faded, but each season has something unique
and wonderful to offer. Fall is my favorite time of the
year. I love the cool, crisp air -- and the dogs, who both
have thick double coats, are ecstatic to be able to romp
and play without fear of overheating. If you've never been
on a little 'getaway' in the fall, I encourage you to try
it... the solitude and privacy is so very relaxing.

On that note, my husband, myself, and our two happy
pooches are going to beautiful Victoria, on Vancouver
Island, for a much-needed vacation at the end of this
month. When we return, we'll have a write-up about our
pet-friendly lodgings, complete with photos. Keep your
eyes open for it in the next issue!

You Can Help Shape the Future of PetFriendly Canada!

Last month, I mentioned that a dog-walking buddy of
mine creates unique, 3D wildlife bookmarks. The
photo on your left shows a moose, just one of
the many types of wildlife bookmarks available.
As you can see, they're wonderfully creative
and truly Canadian!

I'm still looking for opinions. No obligation! Would
you be interested in purchasing one if they were
made available on PetFriendly Canada? Do you know of
others who would be as well, and do you generally
think they're a nice item to offer to our community
of pet lovers?

Please send me your thoughts at:
angela@petfriendly.ca. This is your chance to
help shape the future of PetFriendly Canada!

HIKE WITH YOUR DOG!

Many dogs love hiking just as much -- or more! -- than
their people! "Hike With Your Dog" is an excellent site
that's all about finding great parks and other places
across Canada and the United States where you can share
a hike with your dog.

Here are a few tips to help ensure that our dogs continue
to be welcomed in our parks and on the paths:

  • Please be sure to respect the rules of each park. They
may require that you keep your dog on leash, or away
from certain sections such as beaches, playgrounds, etc.

  • Keep your dog under control and do not allow them to
chase or harass wildlife or other people.

  • Do not allow your dog to trample or otherwise damage any
    environmentally delicate areas.

Don't forget to bring drinking water for both you and your
pooch! Enjoy your hike!

The beautiful Bay of Fundy consists of more than 1000

  • 'Hopewell Rocks' - towering red sandstone statues
    topped by evergreens.

    attractions in the area!

  • Animal lovers will enjoy the abundance of wildlife,
including whale, seabirds, seal, and much more --
plus tours and cruises to help you relax and savor
    the experience.

  • Unbeatable beachcombing! Prefer to go in a group?
Hiking and walking adventures are available from
    local businesses.

  • Canoe and kayak haven! Explore the local coves, bays,
and even marshes while observing the seabirds. Guided
    expeditions are available.
